Crochet Border Stitch Calculator

This crochet border calculator helps estimate the number of stitches required when adding a border to a crochet project. Enter the width and length of your project along with your stitch spacing to estimate how many stitches will be needed around the edge.

How to Estimate Crochet Border Stitches

When adding a border to a crochet project, stitches are typically worked evenly around the perimeter of the piece. To estimate the number of stitches needed, multiply the perimeter of the project by the number of stitches worked per inch along the edge.

Example:

Perimeter = (Width × 2) + (Length × 2)

If a blanket measures 40 × 50 inches, the perimeter would be:

(40×2)+(50×2)=180 inches

If you work 3 stitches per inch, the estimated border stitches would be:

180 × 3 = 540 stitches
